Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I eject a CD/DVD/USB stick from an iMac?
A: Either open Finder and click on the eject symbol next to your device, or find your device icon on the desktop and drag it to the bin on the Dock (bin will turn into eject symbol).
Q: Where can I get a blank DVD to backup my work?
A: The Media Department keeps recordable DVD's in stock and they can be bought, complete with plastic case, for 20p. Other supplies (memory sticks, etc) can be purchased from the LRC.
Q: Can I access my PC student space on the iMacs?
A: No. Unfortunately the Macs run off a different network to the PC's and so have separate student spaces You'd have to email yourself the work, use an online storage solution like Dropbox, or transfer it via portable USB memory card/stick/drive.
Q: Can I transfer the music stored on my iPhone to an iMac/PC?
A: No. Where music is concerned, your iPhone can only be synced with one Mac at a time (the one you originally used to upload the music from). If you tried to re-sync your iPhone with the iMacs/PC's in college you'd risk losing the content on your device.
